Dr. Bergman’s books and articles are often based on classified military and intelligence material to which he has been granted exclusive access. Over the years, he has brought to light numerous issues of considerable public interest including the first interviews ever published with members of the Mossad’s special operations unit; the sale of dual-use chemical raw materials and technology to Iran by an Israeli businessman; the case of “Agent Babylon,” the aide to Egyptian President Sadat who was an Israeli spy; the diversion of Palestinian tax revenues to the personal bank account of Yassir Arafat; the production of fertilizer from the bones of Holocaust victims at an Italian factory during World War II; illegal medical experiments conducted on Israeli soldiers as part of a joint US-Israeli effort to develop a vaccine against anthrax; and various institutional corruption scandals in Israel. Dr. Bergman is the first (and only) journalist ever permitted to join an undercover targeted killing ground operation as well as the only journalist ever present in a drown command post while a targeted killing operation took place.
Dr. Bergman, a recipient of several Israeli and International journalism awards, frequently lectures to academic and military audiences as well as to the general public. In that capacity he had been one of the key experts witnesses (along with American top Intelligence officials and academics) in the famous Havlish, et al. v. bin Laden, et al., case, when families of September 11 victims sued the Iranian regime for assisting and abetting Al-Qaeda.
